“A mother is she who can take the place of all others but whose place no one else can take.” Cardinal Mermillod
“God could not be everywhere, and therefore he made mothers.” Rudyard Kipling
With Mother’s Day on the horizon, it’s a good time to start thinking about how to make the moms and grandmas in your life feel extra special. But before splashing out on lavish gifts, you might want to consider incorporating these super-thoughtful treats into her day. Even though mom doesn’t play favorites, this might put you at the top of her list. 🙂
No-Cost Gift Ideas
Breakfast in bed. This classic surprise is sure to put a big smile on mom’s face and start her day just right.
Homemade crafts. If you are creative and love getting artsy, treat mom to a masterpiece made by you. It could be a beaded bracelet, a piece of pottery, a decorated frame. Check out Pinterest for lots more ideas.
Help around the house. Moms and grandmas are busy. That means it’s highly likely they would welcome a helping hand. You could even pitch in on chores the day before Mother’s Day, so she can truly relax on Sunday.
The gift of time. Some moms really appreciate a little me time to do their own thing. This perhaps is the greatest gift of all.
Take her down memory lane. If she has lots of old photos, you might want to consider digitizing them for her. Scan the pictures onto a CD and watch the slideshow together.
Time together. Think about her favorite things to do and pick an activity to do together. Mani/pedi, brunch, biking, shopping, tennis, movie night—the options are endless.
Happy early Mother’s Day to all the moms and grandmas out there!
