With Christmas just two days away, it’s crunch time for your gift buying and – even more daunting – getting everything wrapped and under the tree. Maybe wrapping just isn’t your thing. Or maybe your hectic holiday party schedule has you stretched too thin to wrestle your way through the mall.
Never fear, gift cards are here. They’re convenient to give and fun to get. In short, they’re a procrastinator’s best friend. Best of all, no wrapping is required. Pick up a gift card in any of our stores or go online to send one by email.
Online gift cards sent electronically are a huge help when you have to send last-minute gifts to loved ones who live far away.
Worried about a gift card being uncreative? Relax—and think outside the envelope. Here are some of our favorite ways to make gifts cards more festive and make your gift a big hit.
hold the coffee
A fun and affordable way of wrapping a gift card is by using a cup with a lid. You can go to any coffee shop, tea shop, or restaurant and ask for an extra cup and lid to conceal the card. A good way to stay consistent is to match the cup with the gift card. To add a fun pop to the cup, you can decorate the outside or fill the inside with colorful shredded paper.
candy jar of surprises
Worried that a gift card is not enough? Pack their favorite candy, preferably mini sizes if they like candy bars, into a mason jar and stick the gift card in the middle. You can wrap a cute little ribbon around the jar to grab their attention. Not only will they have to find the card, but they can enjoy delicious candy at the same time!
A creative and fun way to give a gift card is to place it in a Chinese takeout container. Not only will they be surprised by the unique presentation of the gift card, but it may become a Christmas tradition! Place a few fortune cookies in the container as well to wish them luck on their upcoming shopping spree.
DIY your own reindeer gift cardholder with an empty toilet paper roll, hot glue, markers and brown construction paper. The roll will be the body of your reindeer. Color the roll with markers or cover it by attaching brown paper with hot glue. Draw a face and make antlers out of the construction paper. Attach the antlers with hot glue. CAREFULLY flatten the roll and slide the gift card in. Then unflatten the roll and fold the edges of the bottom in to close it. Now you have a cute one-of-a-kind Christmas gift cardholder!
pop and see
If you want an out-of-the-box and surprising wrapping idea, you can insert the gift card into a balloon. First, start with a sturdy balloon. Then stretch it slightly to loosen it up. Using your fingers, stretch the opening of the balloon as wide as possible and slide the gift card in (smaller side first). Then shimmy the balloon up and back like you would when putting on pantyhose – a little push and pull action. Once the gift card is completely inside the opening of the balloon, blow up the balloon. The gift card should drop into the air when you’re doing this. Tie a knot to close and attach a festive ribbon. Get the person to pop the balloon and see their excitement when the gift card falls out!
Gift cards can be absolute lifesavers when you find yourself in a Christmas crunch. And finding creative ways to present them can seriously up your gift card giving game.
