At Stage Stores, we believe that community is everything. Through several partnerships with charitable organizations, we have had the honor of giving back over $5 million to the communities that support us all year. Here are some ways we give back during the holiday season and some ideas for how you and yours can do the same!
bears that care
Every year, our associates vote on a new design for our 14” bear. From there, we donate $1 for every bear sold to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. We’re SO excited that this year’s bear is brought to you by the one and only F•A•O Schwarz! It’s been so popular, we already sold out once. So get yours for just 7.98 while you still can!
st. jude children’s research hospital
Our customers can donate to St. Jude’s Thanks & Giving campaign in store or online throughout December to help ensure no family with a sick child must worry about treatment, travel and other costs.
say hi to heroes
So many of our hometown heroes don’t get Christmas off. Our police officers, firefighters, hospital personnel and others will be working hard to protect and care for the rest of us. Tell them thank you by baking cookies or making a casserole and visiting your local police station, fire station, hospital or any other place where our heroes could use some holiday cheer.
Buy several stockings (there are great options at the dollar store!) and stuff them with a variety of items to bring a smile to those in need. Have the kids in your family pick out fun little gifts for the stockings. Then add practical items like toothpaste, toothbrush, water, socks and gloves. Keep them in your car during the holiday season to pass out to the homeless.
pay it forward (or backward)
Until Christmas day (or even New Year’s!), pay for the person behind you in the drive-thru line. Ask the cashier to tell them “Happy Holidays!” You’ll absolutely make their day. They might even pay it backward, too, and do the same for the person behind them.
The kids in your family likely spend all year making their Christmas wishlist, and everyone loves to see their faces on Christmas morning when they open their gifts! But it’s also an amazing opportunity to teach them about giving back. Encourage them to donate the toys they no longer want to other kids who may not be as fortunate as they are. Many organizations and churches collect used toys during the holidays, or you can find children in your own community to deliver the toys to them personally.
The holiday season is the best time to remember that giving is just as important as receiving, and there really are endless opportunities to give back to your community. In return, you’ll get the greatest gift — knowing you did something to help others.
