Real Life Real Style is about celebrating everyday women who are anything but ordinary. They’re the women who juggle everything so others don’t have to worry about anything. They’re the glue that holds it all together—while looking altogether fabulous. Meet Jessica – a true Real Life, Real Style inspiration.
When Jessica learned she was chosen to be part of Real Life Real Style, her reaction was a perfect representation of her energetic, bubbly personality. “When they called me, I started screaming hysterically,” she says. “Then I called my mom and she screamed with me.”
Her personality is just one way Jessica stands out from the crowd, which is something that she loves to do. She appreciates that every person is unique and especially enjoys watching her two daughters Miah and Charlee develop their individual personalities. While nine-year-old Miah is active in school, loves animals and has the voice of an angel, two-year-old Charlee keeps everyone on their toes. “Charlee completes our perfectly imperfect family,” says Jessica. “She’s a little crazy.”
As Community Connection Coordinator of the Shelby County Board of Developmental Disabilities in Ohio, Jessica helps people with disabilities connect to their community. She has witnessed firsthand how differences make us interesting and beautiful. This inspired her to hold a fashion show featuring the very people she serves every day. Upwards of 300 people attended the first annual fashion show and the event raised over $2,000. Jessica was able to use that money to donate to local companies and agencies. She also used it to purchase the outfit each model wore. “I just wanted them to feel special,” she said.
When she’s not working or spending time with her husband and kids, Jessica enjoys DIY crafting, working out, volunteering and water sports.
Jessica’s style is as unpredictable as her days. Since her look has to change depending on work obligations, she keeps things versatile while still staying true to her eclectic style. She loves mixing bohemian, retro and hip pieces. “I love, love, love bellbottoms and high-waisted pants,” she says with a smile, “and I hope that umbrella pants are coming back in.”
If you see Jessica on a day when she gets to wear her favorite outfit, you’ll find her wearing cutoff shorts, a fringe-hemmed loose fitting shirt and a gold bohemian flowered headband. And no matter what outfit she’s wearing, she stays true to her own style with unique bracelets, hair accessories and earrings.
Jessica is inspired by styles she sees on Pinterest and the vibes she gets while clothes shopping. She’s always looking for ways to put pieces together that others wouldn’t and enjoys playing with different patterns.
“I believe my clothing says that I’m a confident person,” she says. “I believe in myself. I’m different. I don’t want to fit in with everyone else’s style.”
Jessica loves outfits that exude confidence. Our stylists chose this look for her that mixes soft floral and lace with the strength of denim and leather.
